Background
“Australia-based vocalist/violinist Gisele Scales has been gaining quite a bit of attention for her recordings, which combine dance music beats with violin and even “green” themes. Unusual to be sure, as are the vocals sung/spoken in English, French, Italian and German. If this all sounds quite creative and European more than Australian, you’re right.
The clever synth programming and never-let-up house beats practically drag you forcibly to your feet and demand you boogie your ass off………………….
Scales’ breathy vocals are well suited for this material and her violin technique is excellent.
Scales is a founding member of the Canberra Youth Orchestra, so she obviously has a strong musical background. This disc hints at a strong future of combining techno with the more innovative musicality of prog….and there’s something undeniably catchy about songs like “Nature Love.” One can definitely see Scales’ music catching on.” -- Jim Cirile
